REGISTRATION INFORMATION and MORE
Welcome to CCT’s Spring 2008 Academy! We have so many delightful classes on this page you won’t know what to pick first! We’re offering classes in our two central locations, as well as Dublin, Westerville and Grove City satellite locations, as well as our Newest Satellite in Gahanna.
This year our Spring quarter will be one session of 5 Saturdays.

  We offer year-round classes tailored to meet the needs of various age groups and interests. Our goal is to encourage your child to explore his or her individual talent while promoting teamwork and building confidence. Our teaching staff is comprised of professional artists and instructors who utilize numerous theatre games, teaching techniques, and creative direction in order to produce a learning environment that is not only fun, but educational! If your children love making friends and have a flair for the dramatic, this may be the place for them!

  CCT Academy classes help build self-confidence, imaginative and independent thinking, teamwork skills, and an appreciation of the finer things—all valuable tools which will positively impact your child’s development . We believe in tapping in to a young person’s natural creative abilities, and focusing them toward a common goal of excellence. Our teaching artists are the best in the city, and are expert in drawing out the shy child as well as redirecting the energies of the “drama queen”. We invite you to look over our many class offerings and select the ones which best fit your youngster’s interests and schedule.

  If you have any questions or comments about the programming at CCT, please call me at

    The Academy offers courses year round, divided into quarters, and each quarter is usually divided into 2 sessions of five weeks each. Most of the time classes are held on Saturdays.  During Summer quarter the classes are each one week long, 5 days in a row.
     This quarter we offer some exciting, challenging new courses-designed to educate, enlighten and entertain students of every skill level.
    After every class, we get comments from parents and kids about their experience with CCT—and we are beaming with pride from all the nice things people have said:
    •  “Everything was sensational! The instructors were especially enthusiastic.”—Treasure Trunk Theatre Parent
    •  “She wanted it to be longer—didn’t want it to end.” — Summer With Suess Parent
    •  “She seemed to find a MUCH needed outlet for her creative energy.”—Spongebob Summer parent
    •  “Instructors love and enthusiasm for theatre helped Kathryn enjoy the class and really made her want to continue in theatre. She learned so much!”—The Lion King Parent
    •  “It made me have respect for actors and all the hard work they do.”—An Improv Afternoon student
     We introduce young people to the power of live theatre—both as performers and audience members. In the long run, we hope they’ll have a lifelong love of the theatre, whatever path they take.
    We have satellite locations all over Central Ohio, to make it even more convenient for you!
     We offer classes at our
Park Street Theatre, downtown at our CCT Offices & Studio on 177 E. Naghten St., the Dublin Community Recreation Center, and our Grove City, Westerville and NEW Gahanna satellites.

Why Should I Enroll My Child in CCT Academy Classes?
Recent studies, cited by the College Entrance Examination Board, have shown that kids who participate in the arts score, on average, 59 points higher on the verbal, and 45 points higher on the math portion of the SAT exams. Students in the arts are encouraged to finish high school, and work together creatively once they join the workforce. Facts released by Americans for the Arts show that kids who participate in the arts for at least three hours a day for at least one year are:
" Four times more likely to be recognized for academic achievement";
" Four times more likely to particpate in a math or science fair";
" Three times more likely to win an award at school for attendance";
" Four times more likely to write an award-winning essay or poem".

   Frequently Asked Questions

  Back to Top

     How do I register for class?

• If you have a copy of the brochure, there’s a brief registration form for you to fill out. You can mail this form or fax it to us.
• You can download a REGISTRATION FORM for CCT Academy from this website and mail or FAX it to us.
• You can call us to register over the phone. Our office number is 224-6673, and we can take calls between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

     Do your classes require previous experience?

Unless otherwise noted in the class description, our classes are open to all. Our mission is to provide quality instruction and inspiration to a new generation of theatre artists and theatre enthusiasts. If your child has the desire to be in our classes, that’s what’s important to us.

     Do parents stay at classes?

On the first day of class, many of our teachers give a brief welcome and announcement to all parents. (You should plan on coming in to the classroom to introduce yourself and sign in your child.) For our youngest students, parents may then stay if their child needs them to stay in the room After the first day, we find children to better when the parent leaves.

     What is “Creative Drama”?

Like improv classes, creative drama unleashes the power of play and play-making. The games that we use in these classes help teach theatre terms and skills. Our students learn to appreciate theatre, and, ultimately, they discover the magic of creating drama. Within the theme of the various classes, students learn how to use their bodies, voices and imaginations to develop characters and stories for the stage. Creative Drama work enhances self-esteem, creativity and problem-solving activities. The last day of class includes a sharing day for family and friends.
Creative Drama classes require no experience and may be repeated many times.

     Does my child get to perform?

On the final day of most classes, the students and their families gather for a “sharing day.” This final performance is informal, and is meant to celebrate what the students have learned in the class. We don’t emphasize “special effects” in this performance: we encourage students to create their own costumes rather than spend any money. Please note that some classes for older students opt not to have a sharing day, and use all of their class time honing their skills.
